About Us
A little patch with a big heart.
Our story 🍓
Welcome to Rubelle’s Strawberry Patch!
At Rubelle’s Strawberry Patch, family roots run deep, and we believe the sweetest memories are made together!
Our patch is named in honor of Rubelle Little, Charles Wainright’s grandmother, whose name is now part of a new chapter in our family’s farming tradition.
Farming has always been a way of life for our family. Charles has spent his entire life farming right here in Pitt County, North Carolina. Just next door to our strawberry patch is Little’s Nursery, our family’s longtime business, founded by Rubelle’s husband, Clarence Little. Their daughter, Gayle Little Wainright, spent most of her life running the nursery, and today, her son Nathan Wainright (Charles’ brother) carries on that tradition. Growing things and working the land have been part of our family for generations!
Today, Rubelle’s Strawberry Patch is a family adventure brought to life by Charles and Lisa Wainright, alongside their son Adam and his family. While this is our very first season welcoming visitors to the patch, our love for farming and sharing the fruits of our labor is nothing new.
Every October, we plant our strawberries and spend the cooler months tending to them in anticipation of the sweet, juicy berries that arrive each spring. When picking season rolls around, you’ll find our family working together in the fields, welcoming visitors, and making memories along the way.
And don’t be surprised if you spot Charles and Lisa’s grandkids out in the rows with strawberry-stained faces! We’re pretty sure they eat more strawberries than they pick! 🍓
Our hope is that Rubelle’s Strawberry Patch becomes more than just a place to pick strawberries. We want it to be a place where families slow down, enjoy the outdoors, make sweet memories, and create traditions of their own.
From our family to yours, we can’t wait to welcome you to the patch!
The Wainright Family
Rooted in family. Grown with love. Picked with joy.
“The best strawberry is the one you picked yourself.”
How we grow
We tend our plants with care through every season, pick only when the berries are fully ripe, and keep the field family-friendly so everyone can enjoy a day on the farm.
